Tasty Template - SA Kit Challenge

This week's challenge was a little different for the Daring Card Makers- as it was completely sponsored by Self Addressed.
Self Addressed very kindly donated papers, cards and envelopes (from various SA kits) to the whole of the DCM team to see what we could come up with. So I (Jane) came up with the following template for you and the team to follow. We would like to thank Jen at Self Addressed for her generous support of our blog, we really appreciate it. Many thanks Self addressed!

So use your own papers (or some from your SA Kits if you already get them) to come up with your fabulous creations- and don't forget to check out the fantastic kits on offer at Self Addressed 'The kits are designed for scrapbooks, cards and mini-albums.

This is what our team came up with using their yummy papers and the template. We can't wait to see how you get on with this one, and as always, you can share your work with everyone in two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email your pictures to us at daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk , with your name and website if you have one.

AND there's more exciting news on the design team front! We are pleased to announce that, in addition to our super announcement on Tuesday of Lynne joining the design team on a full time basis, we have a new Guest Designer who will be designing with us for the next couple of weeks. So we offer a warm welcome to Tracy and look forward to working with her over the next couple of weeks.

Extra! Extra! read All About It...........

So much to tell you this week.
Can't wait a moment longer!
We're thrilled, delighted and totally chuffed to little mint-balls to announce that following her stint as Guest Designer a few weeks ago, we find ourselves unable to manage without her on the team so today I get to announce that
the Wonderul and Oh So Talented Tartan Lass herself; LYNNE has agreed to join the Design Team as a Full Time, Fully-Fledged Daring Cardmaker.
Woowoo, can you tell how happy we are?

As if that's not exciting enough, we've also lined up some fantastic Guest Designers who will be appearing on the blog over the next few months; there's some stunning talent out there and we hope to showcase as much of it as we possibly can.

Now then, after all that excitement......how are you feeling about felt? The cards we've seen so far are gorgeous - and such a wide variety of styles and ways to incorporate the fuzzy stuff onto cards. Still room for more links though so if you've not had a go at this dare, then why not see what you can come up with and get your blog link on our list?

You're probably wondering what we have decided to challenge you with for our Little Extra this Terrific Tuesday, aren't you? Well, what we'd like you to do this time is to confine your colour choices to the three primary colours; Red, Yellow & Blue. You can use just one, two or all three and we'll let you have a bit of white or black just to make it nice and easy. Now, when I gave this one to the DT I thought they might come up with some nice bright cards for little kids - but no - not one of them went my way - so maybe you can do better? ;-)
Leave a message and we'll pop along to see what you've done, here are some Primary Colours Only cards to get you thinking:

the theme & style are entirely up to you,
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
and as always, you can share your work with everyone in the two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email your pictures to us at www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com, with your name and website if you have one.

Home, Sweet Home

Just before we announce our Midweek Special, can we just say how beautiful your "Crossing Continents" celebrations and festivals cards are, and how much we are enjoying seeing them. Not an easy dare, this one - but you are being very brave and really rising to the challenge! If you've not already done so, please have a go at this one - it's both fun and inspirational to explore the different celebrations around the world - as you can see by the cards already shown here and on our Links List.
Go on, have a go, We Dare You!

So, on to this week's Little Extra and another in our series of Boy Scout cards - you know - as in the scouting slogan "Be Prepared"! This time it's cards with a New Home theme.
Easy, eh? And, how nice are we? Helping you to get organised and always have the right card ready when you need it instead of scrabbling around to make one in a hurry!
We've a few from the Design team to show you here, and more will (probably ;-]) appear on our personal blogs in due course.
Don't forget to leave a message on this thread so we can all come and see your fabulous New Home cards when you've made them - and there's no cheating allowed - so don't just delve into your old stock.....(hehehe)

Crossing Continents!

I, (Saffa) come from a very multicultural background and love being able to see them all from within and this is what has inspired this weeks challenge....take a deep breath...
I would like you to make a card that celebrates and reflects a festival from another culture to your own....

So here are some ideas to get you started:
Chinese New Year,
Eid,
Hanukkah,
Persian New Year,
Diwali,
Sinhalese New Year,
Kwanzaa,
St. Patrick's day,

We love to see your responses to our Dares, and as always, you can share your work with everyone in the two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email your pictures to us at www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com, with your name and website if you have one.

Just in case you need any more ideas here are the fabulous creations the design team created to inspire you!

A Midweek Recipe

Are you still browsing the Art Galleries of the World seeking inspiration for Rhi's Art Attack Dare? We do love to see what you come up with, so if you've not done so already then why not have a go at this week's dare. Go on let's see the Picasso/Constable/Rembrandt in you!

It's time for our Little Extra - a midweek bonus task to keep you busy. This week we have a very simple recipe for you to follow
All you need to do is make a card featuring 5 circles, 3 squares and 1 flower - that's it. Simple, eh? We're looking forward to seeing what fabulous ideas you come up with for this one so just leave a message when you're done and we'll all come to see your creations! As usual we have 'some' cards from the Design Team to get you thinking, hopefully, they will come up with a few more over the next few days!:

Art Attack

I dare you to make a card inspired by a work of art. If the original art is out of copyright (this happens when the creator has been dead for 70 years or more) then you may use elements of the original artwork in your piece. Otherwise its inspiration only. Look out for colours, patterns, textures, compositions, shapes or themes that inspire you, and remember to show us the piece of art that inspired you to create so we can see the common ground.

What is art anyway? It's completely subjective, so your chosen inspiration could be architecture, one off design or mass produced products. Please remember to respect the right of the artist not to have their work copied without permission, take inspiration instead and make your own art!

We love seeing what you've created and as always, you can share your Art with everyone in the two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email us at www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com, with your name and website if you have one.

Here's the fabulous creations the design team created to inspire you!

Verily Very Vintage

If our links list is anything to go by, Lythan's monochromatic dare is definitely inspiring lots of you - but there's still a few days to go, so if you've not got your name on the list yet, then please, please have a go at this fab dare - hey, all you need is ONE colour.....how hard can it be?
So, what do we have to amuse you midweek this time then?
Well, we've got another retro themed challenge, but this time we'd like you to go way, way back and think Vintage. We'd like you to make a card with a vintage theme, or maybe a modern card but using some vintage elements, so some of those gorgeous "vintage" style rubber stamps would be wonderful, or you could use old paper, photos, an old buckle, some old beads, bits of old lace - the whole history of the world is your oyster for this one!

As usual some of the Design Team have made cards to get you thinking. Don't forget to come and leave us a message when your card is made so we can all come and have a look at your creations.
